List of places that is recommended by a wedding photographer in Copenhagen:

Copenhagen City Hall

The City Hall is considered one of the best wedding photo places in Copenhagen. I have put this spot at the top of this list because I believe that this amazing location can provide you with some really amazing and valuable memories of your special day. The architecture of the building is designed in the National Romantic Style, and the inside of it is ornamented with majestic illustrations. In addition, there is an astounding balcony and fascinating glided stairs where you can take splendid photographs with your other half and commemorate the beginning of your life together.

The inner part of Copenhagen City Hall includes a wonderful backyard with a fountain, tables, and benches, which is the perfect setting to celebrate your marriage with a bottle of champagne and wedding cake. This is where I held my ceremony, and I was quite happy with my choice! It is an amazing spot for getting married in the spring or summer and is the best choice for international couples. Moreover, it is free of charge, so you do not need to pay any kind of fee.

Magstræde is one of the oldest streets in Copenhagen, offering a magical setting for wedding photos. It is moments away from the Court House, so you can consider it if you intend to photograph several locations. While the street is away from the noisy traffic, you should expect a lot of people, especially newlyweds, to take their mementos here.

Since this was a Danish royal residence in the past, you can get some really great photos with regal elements. Marble Bridge is one of the city’s oldest landmarks, so it is no wonder that it is one of the most desired wedding photo places in Copenhagen.

The Royal Stables

The Royal Stables are also located in Parliament territory, so you can consider several locations for taking photos of your solo trip or wedding in Copenhagen. There are about 20 horses, which might be a perfect setting for your photographs if you are lucky to catch them in action.

When having your session outside, plenty of backdrops will beautifully adorn your wedding photos. Among the arches, close to the royal stables, on the field, or with a view of the parliament, are just some of the spots that will set the perfect scene for your images!

Garden of the Royal Library

If you want to depict tranquility and serenity in your wedding photography in Copenhagen, then the Garden of the Royal Library should be your prime choice. It is an ideal spot for taking incredible shots, especially in the summer or spring, because everything blooms and flourishes during these seasons. You will get colourful photographs that will include a breathtaking setting.

It is located in Parliament territory, so if you are mapping your photography plan, you should know that you can also count on this place. If you are on a solo trip, you may want to include some photos of having a picnic amid the gorgeous nature and greenery. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers!

Gråbrødretorv

Gråbrødretorv is a historic square located in the centre of Copenhagen. It is 10 minutes away from the Garden of the Royal Library, so it goes well with other photography spots. There are a lot of colourful houses and a fountain in the middle, meaning it is the amazing scenery you should strive for in your shoots.  There is an abundance of cafes and restaurants, but it is quite tranquil. If you are on a solo or family trip, this is a must among the places to take photos in Copenhagen.

Kongens Nytorv

Kongens Nytorv is one of the main squares in Copenhagen, and it is surrounded by some amazing buildings, such as The Royal Theatre. Besides beautiful buildings, you can also find pieces of nature on this square. The magnificent rows of trees give an appealing look to the square, meaning you will end up with majestic shots. It is 10 minutes away from Gråbrødretorv, so you can pick several locations for your photoshoot.

Nyhavn

Just two minutes away from the Kongens Nytrov is the Nyhavn port, featuring the most colourful buildings you can think of! As you pass the canal, you will be encircled by jazz sounds and boats. There are so many places to take pictures, so you can get as creative as you like.

Since Nyhavn is a tourist hotspot in Copenhagen, start your photoshoot in the early morning to avoid the bustling crowds.

Amalienborg Palace

Centered in the heart of Copenhagen sits the Amalienborg Palace, one of the oldest monarchies in the world. This place is a must-see for history buffs and is located just 15 minutes from Nyhavn by foot. The Palace is known for the Royal Life Guard, which changes every day at noon, and the guards walk the streets of the city, usually accompanied by music.

The guard change can be a unique backdrop for your photoshoot, so if you want to go for a more creative approach, make sure to arrive on time.

The Marble Church

A few meters down from the Amalienborg Palace is the city’s most striking church, The Marble Church. Also known as Frederik’s Church, this building has stood the test of time and prevailed gracefully! It was originally planned in the 1770s, but the project was incomplete all through the late 1800s because the original architect had died. It was finally opened in 1945 and stands as one of Copenhagen’s finest landmarks. Now, it is an extremely popular church to get married in Copenhagen, so chiming bells on Fridays and Sundays are not a rare occurrence.

Fun fact: The Marble Church isn’t actually made of marble! Due to budgeting issues, limestone blocks were used as alternatives. However, no one will notice the difference in the stunning photos you’ll take.

Kastellet

Kastellet is one of Copenhagen’s quietest spots, located 10 minutes from the Marble Church! The area is very well preserved with perfectly manicured lawns and features a fountain, a citadel, and a rustic windmill. A few minutes away from Kastellet is a widely popular attraction: the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the author Hans Christian Andersen. However, this particular spot is typically crowded with tourists, so you won’t get enough privacy. Most people want to take a photo in front of the statue, so you’ll be required to queue; if you’re on a strict time schedule, it would be best to leave it for another time.

Your wedding pictures can look fantastic at Kastellet, especially if you visit in April, since you can see the Japanese cherry blossoms in full bloom! You can also visit Langeline Park to witness the trees in their best display.

The King’s Garden

The Rosenborg, or King’s Garden, is one of the oldest royal gardens in Denmark. It was laid out right next to Rosenborg Castle in the 1600s and has become one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful green spaces. There’s so much greenery—bushes, rosegardens, flowerbeds, you name it! Both the garden and castle, which are 20 minutes from the Marble Church, can be used as backdrops for your photos.

There are two cafes inside the heart of the park. It would be fun to celebrate there after your wedding ceremony is done!

The Botanical Garden

Speaking of spectacular gardens, The Botanical Garden has the biggest collection of various plants, spread over 10 hectares of land. Normally, there’s a lot of greenery going around, but there is a serene lake as well—an ideal backdrop for your photos. Entry to the Botanical Garden is free of charge, however, tickets for the Butterfly and Tropical House have to be bought for a small fee.

The location of the garden is perfect; it is centrally situated, only 5 minutes away from the King’s Garden. If you want to take photos at multiple locations, this should definitely be added to your list!

Frederiksberg Park

Finishing off our list of wedding photo places in Copenhagen is the marvellous Frederiksberg Park. While its location may be a bit far from the local attractions, it is perfect for engaged couples who want to elope in the city! For instance, if you’re getting married in Frederiksberg City Hall, the park is just 5 minutes away. Additionally, there are so many spots in the actual park where you can continue your celebration and be photographed at the same time! All in all, I ensure you will have an enchanting time surrounded by the wonders of nature.

It would be a crime not to mention the small canals and lakes where you can take a boat ride, as well as the many bridges and a Chinese temple where you could have spectacular images taken!
